03/22/2008 – Diamond was High Basset in Trial in Obedience at the Basset Hound Club of Southern California Specialty under judge Selma Ashley. Diamond’s score was 190 (12 points higher than his previous best) while performing in Novice A.

03/23/2008 – Diamond was High Basset in Trial in Obedience at the Basset Hound Club of Southern California Specialty under judge Alvin Eng. Diamond’s score was 175.5 while performing in Novice A. Diamond became the first winner of the Ralph Scarrow Challenge Trophy created and donated by Don & Pam Bullock

03/23/2008 – Diamond received an Award of Merit in the Best of Breed competition at the Basset Hound Club of Southern California Specialty under judge Dr. Rudy Smits, DVM.

Diamond was bred by Jan Kano and Sandy Huddleston. He is owned by Dan Hickey and Sandy Huddleston. He is trained and handled (and much loved) by Dan Hickey in obedience and handled by Jonathan Kano in conformation.

For obedience competition a High in Trial award is the equivalent of a Best in Show (or in this case Best in Specialty Show) in conformation. For a relative beginner to go HIT, back to back in a weekend is literally the thrill of a lifetime.

NEW CHAMPION! WINDSOCK’S MISSISSIPPI ROSE finished her championship at the Silver Bay K.C. Show on Feb. 23 under Judge Michael Dougherty. She received her first points starting last July and finished with 15 points and 3 majors, handled by breeder coowner and my good friend, Kay Haggard. Thanks, Kay. Missi is the third in her litter from Ch. Windsock’s Louis Zamperini & Ch. Windsock’s Anne Morrow to finish. After all these years it’s good to finally have my first champion! Kay Daly	NEW CD! CH. SPLASH’S BEACHSIDE’S BIG KAHUNA, CGC, “Kahuna”, on January 30th received his certification from Therapy Dogs International, Inc. as a therapy dog. Kahuna will soon be joining his housemate Chase as a volunteer at UC Irvine Medical Center bringing comfort and cheer to the patients and staff. Kahuna is owned, trained and loved by Marianne Lovejoy, and co-owned by breed Cathy Wheeler.	Windsock's Runway Penelope Cruz "Penny" got Winners Bitch for 1point on March 1, 2008 at the Kings Kennel Club show, under Mr. Robert Frost. Penny was bred by Kay Haggard. Splash's Jack Knife,"Polly" got Winners Bitch for her first point on February 29, 2008 at the Kings Kennel Club show, under Mrs. Houston (Toddie) Clark. Polly was handled by Valerie Epps. WINDSOCK'S RUNWAY PENELOPE CRUZ "PENNY" won Winner's Bitch for a 5 point major (31 bitches), and went Best of Winners (+14 dogs) at the BHCSC Specialty Show Saturday, March 22nd, under Judge Phil McGarry Arthurs of Ireland. Penny was shown by breeder Kay Haggard and is owned and loved by Valerie Epps. Sire CH Windsock's Louis Zamperini x CH Windsock's Anne Morrow.
